MeidasTouchTime will tell. I think you put too much faith in jaded anti-American polemicists who continually try to spin the narrative that Iran can win against the Empire. Iran has alienated the Islamic world by their own actions. They miss-stepped and lashed out at their neighbours. This is the clearest sign to me that regime change is coming sooner or later. I wish Iran were a heroic Samson against the Goliath but they failed, just like Saddam and Gaddafi and Assad. One day a worthy adversary may emerge from the Middle East. That day has not come yet. As flawed as it is, democracy is still an improvement on theocracy. Theocracy resembles communism in many ways. It is highly centralised, cannot tolerate dissent & thinks it's invincible due to ideology alone.

TwitterThese claims that Iran completely denied all of President Trump's claims are themselves false. The so called denials were from a student group quoting an unnamed source - utter BS which plays into the narrative that Trump is incompetent, a liar, or stark raving mad.
No so-called "news" can be trusted at this time, nor can partisan political commenters who are always pushing a certain angle.
Trump has been punking them all non-stop since this started.
One thing that has been on my mind is the possibility that Trump is actually ailing. If it turns out his claims of productive discussions were made up, it will be hard to live that down. In such a scenario it would be convenient for everybody if he stepped down due to ill-health. Just a thought, probably nothing, but it would give the administration a chance to reset relationships globally. I don't even know if that would be a positive thing - just throwing it out there.
I think what's happening is that discussions are taking place between the Trump Administration and certain factions within Iran. It's not surprising that this has been denied by other factions. Trump seems mentally competent.

TwitterFROM THE BBC
Iran's Student News Network (SNN), which is an Iranian news agency linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) paramilitary Basij Student Organisation, has quoted an “informed source” in the country's foreign ministry saying they “deny negotiations” and that Strait of Hormuz is “closed to aggressors”.
The source has not been named.
Before that, the IRGC-affiliated Fars and Tasnim news agencies had reported similar sentiments from unnamed officials.
Fars said there has been “no direct or indirect contact with Trump” and that he had “backed down”. Meanwhile, Tasnim reported that “no negotiations” are taking place.
We’re yet to see any named Iranian official comment.

Trump says Iran and US both ‘want to make a deal’ and says they’ll talk today
The US president said he was postponing strikes on Iran’s power plants after “very good and productive” conversations - sources in Iran have denied US-Iran talks have happened.
BBC NewsWow . . . look what Trump’s bullshit “peace in our time” statement did to oil prices!
Trump is putting out this bullshit in an attempt to calm oil markets.

Has Iran denied that they have had negations with the USA as claimed by Donald Trump in his March 23 TruthSocial post delaying the U.S. attack on Iranian power plants?
ANSWER FROM GROK
**Yes, Iran has denied having any negotiations with the United States**, directly contradicting Donald Trump's claims in his March 23, 2026, Truth Social post.
In that post, Trump stated that the U.S. and Iran had "very good and productive conversations" over the previous two days aimed at a "complete and total resolution" of hostilities in the Middle East.
He claimed this led him to instruct the Department of War to postpone any military strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period (contingent on the ongoing discussions' success).
This followed his earlier ultimatum threatening to "obliterate" those facilities if Iran did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Multiple reports from March 23, 2026, confirm Iran's swift and public rejection:
- Iranian officials, including through the Foreign Ministry and state/semi-official media (e.g., Mehr News Agency, Fars News Agency, and Tasnim News Agency), stated there were **no direct or indirect talks**, no negotiations underway, and no dialogue with Washington.
- They described Trump's claims as a tactic to calm energy markets, lower oil prices, "buy time" for military preparations, or engage in psychological warfare/propaganda.
- One Iranian source explicitly said: “There have been no negotiations and there are none underway.”
- Iran's response framed the U.S. postponement not as diplomacy but as a retreat due to Iranian threats of retaliation (e.g., targeting Gulf energy infrastructure) and other pressures.
This denial appears consistent across sources covering the event, with no indications of Iran acknowledging or confirming any such talks. The conflicting narratives contributed to market reactions (e.g., stocks rising and oil prices dropping on Trump's announcement) amid the ongoing U.S.-Iran-Israel conflict context.
Trump has backed down.
His deadline was about 9 hours from now
He has found an off ramp by lying to the American people
Iran has denied that any dialog with USA has happened
Trump has backed down from his deadline by spinning it as some kind of a victory
