IRAN AND COMMUNISM 

I’m parking this Wikipedia page here for general interest  - in the context of the current escalating war of USA-Israel forces against Iran 

In the Iranian diaspora - caused by the 1979 revolution - there is now a conflict between the supporters of the son of the displaced Shah and the former Communist party of Iran, the MEK.  

This group - MEK - has now morphed away from Soviet-aligned communism of the 1970s, into progressive democratic socialism. 

 Both groups in the diaspora are vying for control in Iran if the USA-Israel managed to collapse the state by carpet bombing the civil society upon which the state depends.

This Israeli strategy of civil collapse includes the destruction of energy infrastructure, police stations, universities, hospitals not to mention tens of thousands of apartment blocks.  The hoped outcome is that Iran will follow the engineered path of Iraq, Libya and Syria, 

The Wikipedia link gives background to the under-reported fact that the USA (Carter administration) actually supported the Islamists and opposed the communists in the Iranian Revolution of 1979.   

The USA then supported the creation of an Islamic state in Iran.

Today the former Carter administration’s role in the creation of the Islamic State of Iran is conveniently swept under the carpet in western media. 

In 1979, the USA was worried about the power of the Iranian communists at the height of the Cold War. 

Back then  -  4 years after the victory of the National Liberation Front (NLF) and the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) over USA’s occupation of Vietnam -  the USA were worried about Iran, located strategically next door to Russia, being thrown into the arms of the then Soviet Union if the Communist Party prevailed after the fall of the Shah, 

At the time USA was supporting and arming the Islamists in Afghanistan against the Soviet Union 

Ayatollah Khomeini returned from Paris to Tehran in  February 1979, aided and abetted by the Carter Administration in line with their anti communist Cold War strategy. 

The Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in December 1979 and fought against the indigenous Islamists armed with U.S. supplied Stinger shoulder-launched missiles. 

And so it goes, in 2026 the Empire of Chaos led by the great Napoleon figure Donald Trump is at it again. 

Like Napoleon’s doomed 1812 march to Moscow - will Trump’s war against Tehran result in a similar defeat?   Let’s hope it does.  

Napoleon marched into Russia with an invincible army of 600,000 well fed, well armed and supported soldiers.   He returned a year later with about 30,000 wounded, freezing and starving stragglers.   This was one of the the greatest humiliations of a powerful leader in post-Enlightenment recorded history,   The humiliation came about by the Russian strategy of asymmetric warfare. 

Likewise, will Iran defeat the USA through this same kind of asymmetric warfare, designed to prolong the conflict until the empire is  economically and politically exhausted?  Let’s hope so.
