Elon Musk's insane ideas strongly appeal to people who are too lazy to think and too dumb to care - which make them wildy popular today since that accounts for at least 50% of the population. His wacko ideas have a special appeal to people who already live on various forms of welfare - which is another large chunk of the population. His ideas are especially offensive to anyone who has worked hard to build a life and generally tried to be a "good citizen" - in that case his ideas basically trash your whole concept of existence.

But if you are a deluded person with learned helplessness already built in, who lives for distraction and entertainment and believes in Hollywood fantasies then you probably think it's really "cool" to let the robots take over all the work while humans pursue "hobbies".

I've noticed that in his AI rants he often talks about how AI will cure diseases and provide "medical care" - a thought which chills my blood.

This is about as dystopian as it gets. If you don't instantly see that then no amount of argument will help you see it.
