In this report Winston Smith provides an original angle on the deep implications of the US/Iran war, arguing that things are not what they seem and that the state of war between the US and Iran is something of a pantomime.

Winston then takes on a deep dive into the last 100 years of Iranian history.

A must-watch report!

Hey, Hereward, hope life is treating you well in Thailand.

Just thought I'd mention a few people I sometimes listen to who are based there:

Actually the only one of real note is Marc Faber https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7G-Q3lx-gBk

You may have heard of him

Hey good to see you’re getting back to audio broadcasts - it’s coming across like the good old days of Truth News Radio Australia.

You’ve got a talent for thinking & speaking on your feet. I always thought it was a step in the wrong direction for you to shut down that TNRA platform, wherein you interviewed some significant people on geopolitics.

I just listened to this public opinion of yours on the Iran war.  It will result in Iran pivoting to the USA?  First time I’ve heard that  theory. Time will tell.

You did not mention the word “BRICS” nor “Israel” as a factor in the geopolitical equation.

Did you realize the US Carter administration aided & abetted the return of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in 1979, as a bulwark against communism that they feared was gaining traction in Iran?  It was in the middle of the Cold War against the Soviet Union.  The US also backed Islamists in Afghanistan at the time, as a proxy to end the Soviet occupation.

Regarding the nuclear power industry in Iran, I understand this started under the Shah when Iran was a US ally of sorts. There was a U.S. “Atoms for Peace” program.

Do you see Israel as the main instigator & beneficiary of this war on Iran?

It will be interesting to see how China plays its hand after the Trump visit.

Good to see you’re back in the citizen journalism business.  If you can score an interview with some high-profile influencers that will get Fifth Estate Press more traction

I think I saw Tim Anderson speaking at this pro-Assad rally you reported back in 2012.  He’s in Iran now.    Would be good for you to interview him.  (I had considerable dealings with him back in the early 2000s in relation to the East Timor conflict)

Australians For Syria Protest in Sydney

Australians For Syria Protest in Sydney

On 5 August 2012 a rally was held in Sydney in support of the Syrian government by members of the Syrian community and Australians. Some four thousand people gathered peacefully at The Sydney Town Hall to express solidarity about the tragedy in Syria. A number of speakers, from various sections of the community, addressed the audience concerning the external forces that have invaded Syria and are fighting the elected democratic government. The people then marched peacefully to The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs in the Sydney city area, where more speakers addressed the people. Appreciation for Russia and China voting against the US proposed UN-NATO involvement were expressed. The meeting then peacefully dispersed.

Hey that's interesting about the Ayatollah and the Carter administration. I have a deeper take on this which I didn't really go into in that video. I think there has been a back door relationship between the revolutionary government and the US "deep state" for a long time and this fits with that thesis. It always seemed weird that Carter's hostage rescue attempt was botched and then the Iranians waited till Reagan was elected to release the hostages. Then we had the "Iran-Contra" affair, which was clear evidence of a back-door relationship with the CIA. I also feel that the way Iran totally played into the WHO covid pandemic hysteria in 2020 is another indication that they are controlled. I note also that there was a rash of deaths of mid-level government people in Iran attributed to covid (statistically extremely improbable). So all this fits well with the concept of the current war being something of a pantomime.

Commentators like Scott Ritter and George Galloway (just as examples) would have you believe this is an existential struggle for sovereignty and a noble war. I don't see it that way. My research into the history of oil exploration in Persia adds to my scepticism about the Iranians.
