“It was in a heartbreaking post on her X account that her death was announced. Christine Cotton died on June 1, 2026, at the age of 56. Born in 1970 and trained at the Toulouse School of Economics as an economist and statistician, she built a career spanning more than twenty-five years in clinical research before becoming one of the most widely cited French voices opposing mRNA vaccines against COVID-19.

Her résumé bore none of the hallmarks of an activist profile. She had run her own contract research organization (CRO), the kind of company to which pharmaceutical firms outsource trial methodology, data management, and statistical analysis. Roche, Sanofi, Aventis, Janssen-Cilag, Pierre Fabre, Medtronic—she stated that she had worked on hundreds of studies in oncology, cardiology, immunology, and neurology. She was a technician of the system, trained from within rather than a principled opponent: a genuine scientist, rigorous and determined to advance scientific knowledge, particularly regarding COVID-19 vaccines and their serious side effects.

The turning point came in December 2020. Christine Cotton immersed herself in the regulatory documents submitted by Pfizer to U.S. and European authorities. From these, she produced an expert report on the methodological practices of the Phase 3 trial. The first version appeared in early 2022 and expanded through successive revisions to more than four hundred pages in its January 2025 edition. Her central argument remained unchanged: the biases she claimed to have identified would invalidate the 95% efficacy figure reported by the company for its primary endpoint. She also pointed to the Ventavia case, involving a Pfizer subcontractor accused by American whistleblower Brook Jackson of failing to comply with good clinical practices during the conduct of the trials.

This work circulated widely among media outlets and circles critical of vaccination policies, ranging from FranceSoir to Tocsin, Putsch Live, and Nexus, and earned her a hearing before the French Senate in 2022. Christine Cotton never wavered in her position, going so far as to describe the matter as the greatest scandal in the history of the pharmaceutical industry. She was also the author of a book published by Guy Trédaniel, Tous vaccinés, tous protégés ? (All Vaccinated, All Protected?), whose question mark added to the official slogan conveyed the book’s entire intent. Like others, Christine Cotton was blacklisted by mainstream media and ridiculed by some, even as her efforts sought to shed light on a particularly difficult period and what many came to see as the inner workings of the healthcare industry.

News of her death triggered a wave of tributes on X, where Christine Cotton had more than 113,000 followers. Comedian Karine Dubernet wrote that she was already missed and promised to make good use of her work. Actress Véronique Genest paid tribute to the memory of a brilliant and courageous person.
