Though I shy away from anything pharma, I was wondering if this wasn't a lesser evil when one is chronically overweight after a certain age - as that is also a risky situation. Been also hearing of people in my extended circle taking that with "good" results.

I've also wondered the same thing for family of mine who have been obese for decades.
I think if the product were a little less extreme it could actually serve a benefit to those smaller number of people.
E.g. If the effects reduced hunger by just a quarter of what ozempic does and then if it were easy to come off the drug, it maybe could do wonders.
But instead, we have an extreme drug, the extremity of which is what causes the worst side effects and instead it's also targeted/available to anybody and everybody who just wants to shed a few kilos and then they basically get addicted to it, making it psychologically not much different to anorexia.

The mechanism of operation is stomach paralysis. It's apparently derived from snake venom. Nice, 😕

Yeah, I think the stomach paralysis is slightly more known already. The lizard/snake venom is news to me.
But still, people who are loving their ozempic honestly don't see a problem with it stopping them eating. I don't think they understand biology at all and nor do they want to understand it.
My work colleague would have nausea and throw up, all the while eating almost nothing but still drinking wine and having stuff like ice-cream for dinner.
A (former) friend of ours has definitely got ozempic face, I hadn't seen her for a few months and then said to my wife she (her face) looks horrible. But again, she couldn't be happier with her "weight" loss.
I can almost guarantee all of these people are going to have severe problems as they reach old age, with brittle bones, etc. and not enough muscle mass to survive.
