It's hard to have respect for Roger Waters any more
Let me begin by saying I really like Pink Floyd, and I love the lyrics that Waters wrote in the 1970s, but I feel the man today is an embarassment to his artistic persona.
In this interview with Matt Taibbi, Waters gushes leftist clichés. I used to enjoy his interviews on RT about Israel and Julian Assange and his general perspective on geo-politics and empire, but he seems blind to certain realities.
He does get it right regarding big tech and his recognition of the fascism in the Israeli regime is welcome, but he seems disinterested in the fake pandemic which is being used to grind the world into slavery. You would think that would be of interest to somebody who has been so interested in dystopian themes.
Sadly, he follows the "orange man bad" school of thought on Trump without acknowledging a single positive achievement of his administration.
Both he and the two interviewers ignore the contested election results as if there were no issue at all about the legitimacy of Biden's win, not to mention the whole question of voting fraud, the massive coordinated media campaign to smear Trump and the faked election polls
In general, there is a lack of precision and insight in his talking points. He ocasionally hits bullseye, but only after throwing darts everywhere, including his toes.
Unbelievably, he actually endorses BLM in this interview. It is tragic and demonstrates that artists are capable of dishonouring the art they create. I mean, how could the person who wrote the words to The Wall not see through the thin veneer of cynical political manipulation that cloaks this organisation? How could somebody supposedly inspired by George Orwell fall for the scam?
It is sad more than anything else. When I see an artist so confused about what is going on in the world, I find I'm disinterested in his reflections on his artistic process.
I said it is hard to respect him, not "I don't respect him".
I guess the power of the loudest voice really does influence even the thinkers of the world.
When you're hit with the same beliefs from every angle and you don't know where to turn to for alternative angles, it must be hard to.... never mind... maybe it's just a popularity thing. The alternative viewpoint used to be "cool"/"niche". Now it's been drilled in by the media that alternative is not cool but instead despicable.
Also celebs have a tendency to embrace socialism - even though they would never dream of giving up their privileges and lifestyle. Socialism really appeals to elitists. Always has, always will. It seems counter-intuitive until you really drill down into what socialism IS aside from how it is marketed to the masses.
